Crazy Jungle Fish.

Hola, Familia Y Amigos!

Hope you all had a great week. First of all, shout out to the Patriots. I knew all along that Brady and the Boys could do it!

So we had transfers this week, AND.......THEY SENT ME TO THE JUNGLE! Haha, no, just kidding.  I’m still here in Progreso, which was a pretty big surprise. I had already said "peace out" to a bunch of people, and now I’m still here. There is a good chance that I will stay here for the next three months, which will be sweet because there are some progressing Investigators that I’m excited about, and it means that I still get to eat Hermana Norma's pancakes´:)

So P. Day was pretty chill since everyone was packing. Now, Elder Lopez and I have more time in the Zone than anyone! That night the M_____ Family took us to eat in Paredes, so that was fun.

Sadly, I had to say goodbye to Elder Aoki. But, I am very grateful for the many fantastic experiences I had serving a mission with him for 4 1/2 months. It is so cool serving a mission in Perù with somebody you have known and been friends with for so long!

We got two new members of the Zone, Elder Blanco from Chile, and Elder Sitton form Arizona, both of which are way cool.

Oh, so I ate this crazy looking fish they brought in from the jungle. Apparently it's not exactly a piranha but it’s like the little brother of the piranha. Apparently it’s still carnivorous, and it was TASTY.

The highlight of this week was probably teaching Domingo, who is scheduled to be baptized on the 14th. He is a way cool guy, and he is coming to church, and reading The Book of Mormon diligently, and is pretty excited for his baptism. The Spirit is always pretty strong whenever we teach him, and it is just amazing.

Saturday, I did divisions with Elder Sangama. It was a fun day, but when we were returning home that night the lights on all that block were out, including the street lamps, so we had to walk back to the room and plan for the next day in complete darkness. Luckily the cell phone has a little light:)

But yeah,  life is just grand down here in Perù. I was pretty glad I had my little water filtration wand handy last night because we finished up the last of our purified water jugs on Saturday, and had to purify water to drink.

Yesterday was Stake Conference. Domingo came so that’s good! They talked a lot about the importance of serving others. The talks reminded me of the scripture in Matthew 25:40,  where it says: “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." I know that this scripture is true, and that when we serve others we are serving the Lord.

Hope you all have a great week, and don’t forget to go find someone to serve with all of your heart, might, mind, and strength.

Con Amor,
Elder Reschke.

P.S. The church is so true! I know it with all my heart.
P.S.S. I have 21 of the 25 collectible Nuevo Sol coins that are in circulation:)

  5. Jake takes so many good pictures. It is so much fun to read about all of his experiences. It really cracks me up how excited he gets about all of the strange food.

  6. Think that animal on Jake shoulders is a chupacabra. And he thinks it is the guinea pigs cousin. Although if one of us wins the prize, I won't hold my breath for it as I'm still waiting for my prize for winning the photo contest on his website he used to have ha ha
